INCOMING STUDENTS

INFORMATION FOR INCOMING STUDENTS

This page is for incoming Erasmus students to the Dept. of International Languages and Literatures ONLY. If your exchange is NOT with this department, this information is not relevant to you.

Incoming Erasmus students must make sure that they meet with their local academic coordinator in their first week in Torino. The academic coordinator will direct students to the courses that are relevant to their academic exchange. If unsure about your academic coordinator, consult your Erasmus contract or inquire with the Erasmus office (see next paragraph).

Upon arrival, incoming students need to immediately check in IN PERSON with the Erasmus Office (at Infopoint, Via Po 29, see "contacts" page for details), which also helps with accommodation and Italian language courses. Before seeking help from the Erasmus office, incoming students should read these instructions VERY CAREFULLY:
https://en.unito.it/international-relations/students-mobility/exchange-students-and-erasmus-mobility. At the end of their mobility period, students will need to check out with the Erasmus Office in order to obtain their attendance certificate. Please notice: faculty members are not authorized to issue attendance certificates.

Languages of instruction. Courses are taught either in Italian or in the languages taught at the department. We teach a few courses in English, in the areas of English literature and language ("Letteratura Inglese", "Lingua inglese"), American literature/American studies ("Letteratura anglo-americana", "Laboratorio di letteratura anglo-americana", "Storia delle Americhe", "Storia e istituzioni degli Stati Uniti") and Film and Multimedia.

Course listings.  CLICK HERE for course listings for the Department of Foreign Languages, Literatures and Cultures (use keywords to narrow down your search). Each course description has a brief blurb in English.  Make sure you distinguish between BA level courses (noted as "triennale" in parenthesis) and MA level courses (noted as "magistrale" in parenthesis). Course listings are usually published in July.
Erasmus students are also allowed to take courses from other departments. We recommend that students consult their academic advisors at home and in Torino before committing to courses outside this department.

Course schedules are listed at the bottom of each course syllabus (please make sure you distinguish between 1st semester - "primo semestre" - and 2nd semester - "secondo semestre" - courses). Course schedules are usually available beginning in September.
